Who can join?

Anyone who wants to experience the joy and beauty of yoga can join our classes, total beginners, young, old, intermediate practitioners or advanced students. Our classes have something for everyone!

What kind of yoga class do I need?

Usually, we recommend you join our 'yoga general class'.  For students with some prior experience of yoga, the 'yoga general 2 classes' are advised. However, if the timings of any of these classes do not suit you, you can request for the class that does suit your time and the teacher will decide accordingly.  Class size and structure allows for individual attention and variance in instruction.

What do you need to know before you join?

There is no prerequisite to join. No prior knowledge or experience in required.

You just need to be armed with an open attitude.

How can I join?

Email us or call us on the numbers listed on this website. An orientation (10 - 15 minutes) is mandatory before joining any class which needs to be fixed with our teacher/ coordinator. Usually, the orientation is done just before the first class that you choose to join.

What is mandatory orientation?

In the orientation we introduce the key points and concepts about the style of yoga done in the Studio, so that you can easily join an existing group class.

What do I wear for the class?

You can wear anything that is comfortable for you and allows free movement of the body.

Is it a must for me to come for the yoga class on empty stomach?

Ideally, we prefer that you do not eat anything three hours before the class, so as to enjoy the full benefit of the yoga session. If for some reason it is not possible for you to do that, it is alright to have liquids like tea or coffee with a biscuit or two, an hour or so before the class. Anything more will hinder your practice.

What kind of yoga is followed at Studio Abhyas?

We are inspired by the teachings of Krishnamacharya and T.K.V Desikachar from Chennai. This style lays great emphasis on the breath and the perfect coordination of body, breath and mind in order to reach a state of mindfulness, peace and vitality.

What is the size of a class?

The classes are kept small so that individual attention can be paid to the needs of each student. Maximum number is eight students per class.

Do I need to bring anything with me to the yoga class?

Everything you need for a yoga session is provided at the Studio. We have mats and other tools. However, if you wish to use your personal mat, you may do so.

How to reach the Studio? Is there any parking facility in the vicinity?

The Studio is located two lanes from the Green Park Market. Please see map. There is a parking shortage on the street where the Studio is located. You are advised to park in the lane behind the Studio, on the side lane of the Studio or in the Green Park Market.
